A 19-year-old Antioch man was killed and a 16-year-old Antioch girl was critically injured late Saturday night when a vehicle with five people inside hit a retaining wall and flipped on its side, Antioch police reported.
The man, whose name was not released until next of kin are notified, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at 11:24 p.m. on James Donlon Boulevard at Nightingale Drive. The victim was a passenger in the car occupied by five Antioch teenagers ranging in age from 16 to 19, according to a release from the Antioch Police Department.
The driver, an 18-year-old man, was driving eastbound on James Donlon Boulevard when he lost control of the vehicle, police reported.
A 16-year-old girl in the car was hospitalized in critical condition, while another 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man were taken to a hospital with less serious injuries. An 18-year-old man was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released.
Antioch police said they are investigating the cause of the accident.
