MORAGA -- An 18-year old Saint Mary's College student has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault of a fellow student Sunday morning.

Nicholas Conzachi, a sophomore, was arrested around noon Monday at his dorm room at the college on suspicion of rape, according to a news release from Moraga police.

Conzachi was booked into County Jail in Martinez on $100,000 bail.

The victim reported the assault to Moraga police at 3:40 a.m. Sunday saying she had been raped within the last hour in another student's dorm room, according to the release.

The victim provided information and identified the suspect and then was examined and treated at a hospital, police said.

Michael McAlpin, spokesman for Saint Mary's said he believes the campus is safe and the college takes sexual assault allegations very seriously.

"The safety of everyone on campus is of primary importance and we are really sad that this incident occurred," he said.
