SHERMAN ISLAND -- A helicopter crashed here, just north of Antioch, after a midair collision with an airplane around 6:45 p.m. that resulted in no serious injuries, officials said.
A Beechcraft Bonanza collided with a Robinson R22 helicopter near Rio Vista Municipal Airport, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor.
The helicopter crashed in a field on Sherman Island just off Highway 160, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's dispatcher. Its pilot refused medical treatment, according to Gregor.
The plane landed just short of Byron Airport and the pilot reported no injuries, Gregor said.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the accident, he said.
