ANTIOCH -- An 83-year-old Antioch woman was in critical condition late Tuesday after she was struck by a vehicle on Lone Tree Way, police said.

The collision happened around 3:30 p.m. just north of Davison Drive, according to an Antioch Police news release. The woman may have been attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Lone Tree Way when she was struck in the no. 1 lane, police said.

There is no crosswalk at the spot where the woman was struck, and police said it was not clear why she was in the roadway. The speed limit on that portion of Lone Tree Way is 35 mph, but it was unknown how fast the vehicle that hit the woman was traveling. Alcohol was not considered a factor, police said.

The injured woman was flown to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, police said.

Anyone with additional information may call Officer Joseph Zanarini at 925-779-6900, ext. 82996.
