DANVILLE -- A woman who was hit by a car near a major Danville street Tuesday morning was released from the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Police were called to the crosswalk intersection of Interstate 680 and Sycamore Valley Road at 10:33 a.m. after an elderly woman driving a small SUV ran into another woman, Sgt. Nate McCormack said. The woman was walking in the crosswalk, he said.

"It was a very minor collision," McCormack said.

The woman, whose age wasn't known, McCormack said, was taken by ambulance to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where she was released with minor injuries.

Police are investigating how the collision happened, but McCormack said drugs and alcohol don't appear to be a factor. The driver stopped and is cooperating fully with police, McCormack said.
