Police have identified three people arrested in a stolen car Saturday night after a high-speed chase that spanned two East Bay counties, authorities said.
The roughly 20-mile pursuit from Concord to Emeryville reached speeds of 90 mph but ended when the driver of a stolen Acura banged into a center divider while trying to make a low speed U-turn, said Concord Lt. Darrell Graham.
The driver, 25-year-old Robert Vella of Daly City, as well as passengers Milagro De Jesus Moraga, 20, of San Francisco and Adonis Hempel, 29, of Oakland, were book into the county jail in Martinez, Graham said. Police said Hempel was a wanted parolee, but did not elaborate.
The chase started about 9:15 p.m. when police spotted the 2003 four-door Acura near Commerce and Concord avenues. Because the car did not have license plates nor headlights, an officer tried to pull it over. The driver, however, did not stop and took police on a chase from Highway 242 at Concord Avenue to Interstate 680 and finally Highway 24, authorities said.
