A Concord man was arrested early Monday after allegedly mugging three women, trying to carjack another and fighting with police, investigators said.
Shortly after midnight, police were called to the intersection of Haller Court and Virginia Lane where three women said a man had mugged them at knifepoint, Lt. Robin Heinemann said.
Minutes later, a nearby woman spoke to police and said a man had tried to force her into her car as she stood near it in a parking lot. The woman had broken free of the man and run away, Heinemann said.
As police were interviewing the woman, the suspect was spotted walking through another nearby parking lot, in the 1100 block of Virginia Lane. Police chased him to a nearby apartment, where he went in and began barricading himself inside, Heinemann said.
Then, she said, the man came out of the apartment and fought officers as he was being arrested. Detectives found evidence inside the apartment, she said.
Neither the female victims, the officers nor the suspect were reported injured, Heinemann added.
