CONCORD -- The Mt. Diablo Peace and Justice Center recently recognized 22 students throughout Contra Costa County with "Peace through Art and Writing Challenge" awards.
Middle school art winners were: Penelope Watson, first place; Stephanie Leighton, second place; Eva Schoenholz, third place; Melissa Martinez, fourth place; Gabby Heng, fifth place. Middle school essay winners were: Cayden Minyard, first place; Kevin Caldera, second place; Ricardo Barajas, third place. Middle school creative writing winners were: Clayton Cruncleton, first place; Edgar Rodriguez, second place.
High school art winners were: Melanie Jinon, first place; Hersha Cantiller, second place; Nehemia Mekete, third place; Tai Vugia, fourth place; Daniell McCann, fifth place; Hailey Westphal, Estera Roseman Award for art; Kyle Trujillo, special honorable mention. High school essay winners were: Kendall Lamaestra, first place; Quentin Hamilton-Meyers, second place.
