SAN RAMON -- A third suspect was been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a jewelry store last month that resulted in a fatal shooting, police said Friday.
Police arrested Gregory Jamal Louis, 22, of Hayward on Wednesday in the 200 block of B Street in that city, according to a San Ramon police news release. The Contra Costa District Attorney's Office charged Louis with one count of murder and three counts of robbery in connection with the May 30 armed robbery of the Gold N Treasures store at 2550 San Ramon Valley Boulevard, police said.
Hayward teenager Kibrom Bairu, 18, died after being shot by the store owner during the armed robbery, investigators said. Police say Bairu was carrying a handgun when he and three other men burst into the shop, and that the shooter fired in self-defense.
Police on June 1 arrested a second suspect, Krishneel Prasad, 19, of Hayward near his residence on Stewart Drive. Louis and Prasad are being held at County Jail in Martinez, Louis on $1 million bail and Prasad on $300,000.
The fourth suspect in the case remains on the loose. Gold N Treasures store owner Everett Parvin has declined to discuss the incident.
