NEWARK -- A teenage boy suffered minor injuries Thursday after taking a blow to the head with brass knuckles, police said.
About 1:15 p.m., officers investigated reports that the boy was jumped and struck in the head on the railroad tracks behind St. Mark Avenue, between Cedar Boulevard and Edith Street, Sgt. Manuel DeSerpa said.
According to DeSerpa, the victim was uncooperative and failed to give a description of his attacker.
Authorities believe the assault may have been gang-related, police said.
