UNION CITY -- A woman was killed when she was struck by an Amtrak train in Union City on Tuesday evening, officials said.
The victim was trespassing on the tracks when she was fatally struck by a train at around 6 p.m., Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole said.
The victim was a woman in her 40s or 50s and was struck in Union City around Railroad Avenue between H and J streets, according to the Alameda County coroner's bureau.
The Capitol Corridor train, traveling from Sacramento to San Jose, was carrying 190 passengers at the time. No other injuries were reported, Cole said.
The train was delayed in Union City for 2 hours and 40 minutes, and eventually all passengers left the train and boarded buses to their destinations, Cole said.
The woman has not yet been identified, coroner's officials said.
