BERKELEY -- Authorities responding to reports of gunfire Wednesday night arrived to an abandoned crime scene, a police spokeswoman said.
About 5 p.m., police arrived in the 2700 block of Acton Street and found blood and shell casings but no victim, Berkeley Police Sgt. Mary Kusmiss said.
Shortly after, a wounded man surfaced at a local trauma center, authorities said. Police could not confirm whether the man was involved. Details on the man's injuries weren't provided, but police said he is expected to survive.
According to Kusmiss, Berkeley police performed the preliminary investigation and enlisted homicide detectives to perform a follow-up investigation.
"It is too early to speculate about a suspect or motive," she said.
