The deadline for applying to serve on the Bethel Island Municipal Improvement District board is next week.

Candidates have until July 11 to express an interest in the vacant seat; board members will interview applicants at 7 p.m. July 19 at the beginning of their regular meeting.

Meetings are at 3085 Stone Road.

Applicants must be at least 18, an American citizen and district resident as well as a registered voter.

The appointee will serve until district elections in November 2014.

Those interested in the position must submit an application with their name, address, phone number, email address and a brief explanation of their qualifications and why they want to serve.
