CONCORD -- Two men who were lurking inside the Orchard Supply Hardware store in Clayton Valley Shopping Center were arrested Tuesday after one of them displayed a gun in the store after an apparent shoplifting attempt, police said.
Police did not release the names of the men, who were taken to County Jail in Martinez on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy and resisting arrest, Concord police Lt. David Hughes said in a news release. The 28-year-old and 24-year-old both are from Concord, Hughes said.
The duo were in the store at 5424 Ygnacio Valley Road around 2:30 p.m., when a store employee tried to detain the two for shoplifting, Hughes said. One of the men fled immediately, Hughes said, but the other one displayed what the employee believed was a gun in his waistband.
Officers found the two men matching witness' descriptions after searching the area and established enough probable cause to arrest both, Hughes said.
