CONCORD -- A man was hospitalized Thursday morning after the SUV he was driving careened off Highway 242 and hit a tree, officials said.
The collision happened around 9:45 a.m. when the vehicle, traveling northbound through Concord, went off the road and tumbled down a steep hill toward a car dealership in the 1900 block of Market Street, a dispatcher for Contra Costa Fire District said.
The man was found trapped in the vehicle when emergency crews arrived, the dispatcher said.
Crews had to extricate the man from the SUV and he was placed on a stretcher with a neck brace before being driven to a hospital. His condition was not released Thursday morning.
