If you're in the market for a slightly used, high-tech cigarette rolling machine, Vallejoans Daren and Amy Guo have a couple available, since federal authorities redefined cigarette manufacturers to include roll-your-own businesses like theirs.
Guo, 31, said he and his sister Amy ceased operating the machines at the former Meadows Video store on Sonoma Boulevard, and moved them into storage on June 6, when the Obama Administration's new federal highway bill passed containing the manufacturing language.
Challenges to the new designation that extended the tax burden meant for "big tobacco" to small roll-your-own enterprises like the Guos' have failed, according to news reports. That put operations like theirs out of business all over the country.
