A magnitude 2.7 earthquake was reported Monday morning east of San Jose but yielded no emergency calls, authorities said.

The temblor -- sometimes dubbed a microquake because its strength measured less than 3 -- occurred at 8:48 a.m. about two miles north of Alum Rock Park, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage, according to local emergency agencies.
