SAN LEANDRO -- Police are asking the public for help in finding two men suspected of robbing close to a half-dozen people at gunpoint outside the same San Leandro bank branch in less than two weeks.
No injuries were reported in the three separate incidents that occurred Tuesday, Sunday and July 14. A total of five victims were involved, Lt. Randy Brandt said Wednesday.
During the most recent stickup, a 25-year-old woman told police she was standing at an ATM just before 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Wells Fargo at 1899 Marina Blvd. when a man approached her with a black hand gun, pointed it at her and demanded cash.
The woman complied and the suspect ran off.
Two days earlier, on Sunday, three other people standing at that same ATM were also robbed at gunpoint, Brandt said.
During that reported 7 p.m. incident two male suspects robbed a woman and two men as they stood in line at the ATM. One of the suspects approached the machine, pointed a gun at the victims and demanded cash, Brandt said. The other suspect stood nearby.
After taking the victims' money the suspects fled, Brandt said.
Victims gave similar suspect descriptions in each robbery, police said. The suspect who pointed the gun is described as a black man in his 20s, 5'6, with a thin build and wore a black hooded sweatshirt and bluejeans. He had shoulder length dread-lock style hair and facial hair. The second suspect is a black man, between 18 and 20 years old, 6
The first armed robbery at the bank took place at 7 p.m. July 14, Brandt said.
During that incident two suspects fitting the same description held up a man with a gun in the parking lot of the bank, took the victim's wallet and ran, Brandt said.
"This is the third robbery within two weeks around ATM machines," Brandt said. "If anyone witnesses suspicious activity please report the incident immediately. You should always attempt to be aware of your surroundings and try to travel in pairs."
