City Council races in Martinez and Pleasant Hill are generating considerable interest.
In Martinez, where two seats will be on the Nov. 6 ballot, incumbent Janet Kennedy isn't running. Two of three council seats on the ballot in Pleasant Hill are open because Terri Williamson resigned and Mayor John Hanecak is stepping down. Voters in both cities also will elect a part-time city clerk and city treasurer.
This is a list of those who have taken out papers to run for City Council as of July 27. For council candidates in both cities, the filing deadline is Aug. 15.
