BAY POINT -- A bicyclist suffered a major head injury and was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek after a collision with a vehicle Sunday evening.

No one else was injured. The cyclist's identity and condition were not immediately released.

The crash was reported just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of Water Street and Alberts Avenue in Bay Point.

Officials from the California Highway Patrol and the Contra Costa Fire Protection District, which responded to the call, did not release any more details.
