More than 1,000 PG&E customers in Richmond are without power Monday evening after a wire was brought down there, possibly by a kite, a PG&E spokesman said.
The wire was reported down in the area of Wall Avenue and South 50th Street at 8:25 p.m., PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said.
Originally, 2,230 customers were without power, but PG&E repair crews have been working in the area and by around 9:30 p.m. had the number down to 1,100.
Initial reports to PG&E said that a kite had been flown in to the power lines, knocking a wire down. However, Guidi said those reports have not yet been confirmed.
There is no estimated time that power will be restored.
