HERCULES -- A Hercules man who police said was drunk escaped serious injury Wednesday when he hit two parked cars with his truck and flipped over Wednesday.

He did end up with an arrest on his record, though.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Sequoia Drive around 11:10 p.m. and found a Toyota Tacoma driven by Nathanial Simms, 56, of Hercules on its side, according to a report from Hercules police. Police said Simms was driving south on Sequoia when he hit the parked cars.

Simms was treated for injures at the scene and initially refused hospital treatment. But officers arrested Simms on suspicion of drinking while intoxicated and transported him to Contra Costa Regional Medical Center. He was transported to County Jail in Martinez after he was released from medical care.
