FREMONT -- Police suspect an elderly man's medical condition may have caused him to lose control of his vehicle and collide with several cars near a major intersection Thursday.
The multicar wreck occurred around 3 p.m. at Fremont Boulevard and Decoto Road, Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said. No one was seriously injured, she said.
Police said an initial investigation revealed the man, whose age was not given, was turning left from Fremont Boulevard onto Decoto Road and after losing control, collided with two motorcycles, a pickup truck and two other vehicles.
The man was taken to an undisclosed trauma center for treatment of the condition that apparently led to the accident, Bosques said.
A woman driving one of the other vehicles was treated for "minor, visible injuries," Bosques said, but it was unclear whether she would be taken to a hospital.
"The amazing thing was that all the other motorists were uninjured," she said.
The intersection was closed until about 4:30 p.m. while officials investigated.
