WALNUT CREEK -- Local businessman Justin Wedel, who ran unsuccessfully for a city council seat in 2010, pulled papers Thursday and intends to run again.
Wedel is the seventh person to pull papers -- though one was disqualified for not living within city limits -- for the November election. Three four-year seats are up for grabs.
Mayor Bob Simmons is the only definite candidate because he filed his papers Wednesday.
Mayor Pro Tem Kish Rajan and Councilman Gary Skrel have also pulled papers. Rajan said he intends to run, and Skrel said he has not made a decision. Other possible candidates include Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorney Barry Grove and Loella Haskew, a certified public accountant.
The deadline to file is Aug. 10 unless an incumbent chooses not to run; in that event, the deadline is extended to Aug. 15.
