ANTIOCH -- A man driving a car reported stolen out of Antioch led California Highway Patrol officers on a chase through several counties before officers and a police dog caught up with him on Highway 4 in Contra Costa County on Friday.

The suspect was identified as Darryl Crocker, but his age and city of residence were not released. He was arrested on suspicion of evading police, driving a stolen car and other vehicle code offenses, police said.

No injuries to police or motorists were reported.

The chase started about 2 a.m. on the Carquinez Bridge, went though Vallejo into San Francisco, then on Highway 80 into Oakland and onto Highway 4 in Contra Costa County, where police laid down spike strips in the road and the pursuit ended shortly after 3 a.m.

The man was bitten by the dog after he bailed out of his car and ran away, but he was treated for the wound before he was booked into Solano County Jail in Fairfield.
