SAN LEANDRO -- A 63-year-old man hit by a car outside the San Leandro BART station last week has died from his injuries, police said Tuesday.
Stephen Liu, of San Leandro, died Saturday morning, an Alameda County Coroner's Bureau official said.
Liu had been hospitalized in critical condition since he was struck at 5:45 p.m. Thursday by a car coming from the station parking lot at San Leandro Boulevard and West Juana Avenue.
The car that hit him kept going and struck another vehicle head-on before coming to a stop, said BART Police spokeswoman Officer Era Jenkins
The driver in that car was not injured and Jenkins said it did not appear he was trying to flee the scene or that alcohol was a factor in the collision.
The driver was not arrested but as of Tuesday the case remained under investigation.
Anyone with additional information should called BART Police investigators at 510-464-7040.
