A woman was struck Monday afternoon while crossing a Fremont street by a car whose driver fled the scene, police said.

The woman was not seriously injured, Fremont Police Sgt. Mark Dang said.

Officers were called at about 1:10 p.m. to the intersection of Mowry Avenue and Paseo Padre Parkway after a motorist dialed 911 and told dispatchers he stopped his vehicle after seeing a woman on the ground at that location, police said.

A woman in her 60s told officers she was crossing Mowry when a sedan struck her.

The woman could not give a detailed description of the driver and no one at the scene witnessed the crash, Dang said. She suffered cuts from the impact, he said.
