RODEO -- A residential fire Friday damaged a garage, but not so much to make the home uninhabitable, a dispatcher confirmed.
Contra Costa Fire District crews were called to 1174 Myrna Way at 6:02 p.m. and arrived to find the garage of the single-story home burning. It took crews from the lone Rodeo-Hercules station eight minutes to arrive and another eight minutes to put out the blaze, a dispatcher said.
Nobody was injured, and crews were still cleaning up debris well into the evening. But the Red Cross was not summoned, a sign the residents may have been able to stay. The rest of the house was not damaged, the dispatcher said.
Information on how many people lived in the home was not available late Friday. Crews from stations in Pinole and Crockett also helped put out the blaze.
