A man accused of scrawling several swastikas on three vehicles in a neighborhood near Newark Boulevard was arrested on suspicion of vandalism, stalking and committing a hate crime, police said.
Police said David Desruisseau, 34, of Manteca is the primary suspect in the crime, which occurred in the 36600 block of Bonnie Street on Sunday. Police were called to the scene around 10:22 a.m. after receiving an emergency call from a resident stating that Desruisseau was in front of the home.
When officers arrived, they detained Desruisseau for medical reasons and took him to a hospital, where he was to be released into custody. Police also obtained a protective order for the victim but did not say if the victim owned all three of the damaged cars.
