SAN JOSE -- A 3-year-old girl fell into her family's swimming pool and drowned on the 2000 block of Bluejacket Way around 7:20 p.m. Friday, police said.
The girl was taken to Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
According to police, there are no initial indications of foul play, and the investigation is ongoing.
Police declined to release additional details Friday night.
Bluejacket Way is a street of mostly large single-family homes near Berryessa Road and N. Jackson Avenue.
In June, San Mateo police discovered the body of a young girl, age 3, drowned in a local lagoon after she had gone missing earlier in the day.
There were two near-drownings in swimming pools earlier this summer in San Jose.
In the latest case, an 8-year-old boy was taken to a hospital July 23 after being found submerged in a community pool in the 500 block of Nicholson Lane, near Zanker Road and Tasman Drive. According to reports, the boy's parents lost view of him for about one minute when it was discovered he was submerged in water.
Last summer there were six reported near-drownings of children in San Jose during a span of seven days, according to San Jose fire spokeswoman Mary Gutierrez.
