CLAYTON -- The owner of a local hair salon was arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of sexually assaulting a young girl, police said.

The girl contacted Clayton Police several months ago to report she had been sexually assaulted. Further investigation and witness statements led to the arrest of Jim Frazier, owner of Hair by Jim, Clayton police said in a news release.

Frazier was arrested after the district attorney's office filed one charge of felony sexual battery and a charge of misdemeanor child molestation, the release said.

He was taken into custody without incident, Chief Dan Lawrence said. A warrant was issued with bail set at $60,000.

No information was immediately available about when Frazier will appear in court.
