CONCORD -- A 20-year-old Pittsburg man was shot during an altercation down the street from a huge party Saturday night just off Monument Boulevard, police said.
The man was in stable condition at a hospital Sunday evening. No one else was injured.
Officers on patrol on Peach Place heard gunfire about 10:50 p.m. Saturday, according to Concord police Sgt. Matt Morrissey. As they investigated, they saw a group of youths in the street and a speeding car leaving the scene.
They pursued the car, stopping it near the intersection of Monument Boulevard and Oak Grove Road. The driver was attempting to transport the victim, who had been shot several times in the abdomen, to the hospital, Morrissey said.
Officers investigating the scene found a party on nearby Ernst Way that was attended by "hundreds" of juveniles, Morrissey said. The party at a small home had apparently been joined by many uninvited guests, and people in two cars down the street had a conflict that led to the gunfire.
The suspects were seen in a gray or silver four-door Buick Park Avenue, Morrissey said. Anyone with information can call the Concord police tip line at 925-603-5836.
