OAKLAND -- A 19-year-old man fatally shot Monday night outside a West Oakland store was identified by police Thursday as Kenneth Ray Jones Jr.

Jones was shot about 8:55 p.m. Monday outside a neighborhood store at Eighth and Adeline streets.

Sgt. Randy Wingate said Jones lived in the nearby Acorn public housing complex.

Jones was shot multiple times by at least one and possibly more attackers who fled on foot and are still being sought.

A motive for the killing has not been released by police.
