ALAMEDA -- Ernest Gardner returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown and Jesse Lewis passed for 330 yards and five touchdowns -- with four of the scoring passes going to Chris Bussey -- as the host Alameda High football team defeated Redwood 49-20 in a nonleague game.
Lewis had scoring tosses of 30, 10, 2 and 5 yards to Bussey before adding a touchdown throw to Jonathan Fifer in the fourth quarter.
"We felt good about being able to put the ball up -- Jesse has a good arm," Alameda coach Kemp Moyer said. "But Chris Bussey went nuts; he had a breakout game. He's been working hard every day after practice and it shows. He went out there and they really couldn't stop him."
