The San Leandro Police Department will host an open house Friday evening.

The event, from 5 to 8 p.m. at 901 East 14th St., allows residents to meet officers and tour the department's facility, said Lt. Randy Brandt.

It also includes special demonstrations from the department's traffic and K9 units as well as SWAT and hostage negotiation teams.

Prizes will be awarded to the first 100 guests, Brandt said, and the event is free to the public.
