Ashley Mills' mother said Friday she was speaking with her daughter on the phone just minutes before the 28-year-old woman was shot to death at home Thursday night.
Mills -- whom neighbors say was pregnant with twins -- and her 31-year-old boyfriend were found dead at their South Vallejo home in the 1000 block of Atherton Street about 9:15 p.m. Thursday by police who responded to several reports of shots fired in the area.
Mills said her daughter was a "dedicated mother" and was studying psychology at college.
A toddler in the house was unharmed.
The multiple homicides do not appear to be random, Lt. Lee Horton said Friday.
