PITTSBURG -- An 18-year-old Brentwood man was shot to death at a well-known Pittsburg park Friday evening, police said.
Police were still looking for the suspect in the shooting, which happened in Buchanan Park around 6:20 p.m., Lt. Ron Raman said. The park, located at the corner of Buchanan Road and Harbor Street, often attracts large crowds, but police did not indicate how many people may have been there Friday.
The victim was with a group of people that was approached by at least two other males, Raman said. Words were exchanged between the two groups, and one person pulled out a gun and fired at least one shot into the victim's back, Raman said.
The victim was dead when officers arrived, Raman said. Police said the shooting did not appear to be gang-related but that "there is some indication they knew one another," Raman said.
Police did not have any description on the suspects.
