FREMONT-- A 49-year-old woman was brutally beaten in her home Sunday morning by four men seemingly intent on robbing the residence, police said.
About 11:30 a.m., a woman home alone on the 48000 block of Purpleleaf Street awoke to find four Hispanic males, at least one armed, standing around her bed, Spokesperson Geneva Bosques said.
The men proceeded to restrain the woman with duct tape and severely beat her, leaving her with two black eyes, severe facial lacerations and a mouthful of broken teeth.
The woman fought the suspects in attempts to use the phone and was eventually able to flee out the door to a neighbor's house to dial 911, Bosques said. The suspects fled out the back door with a small amount of the woman's jewelry.
"The suspects did not take very much from the house aside from the jewelry and left a lot of valuables in plain sight, which is a little suspicious," Bosques said.
The woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for the major wounds to her face, and was said to still have had duct tape in her hair while being treated at the hospital, Bosques said.
