FREMONT -- Police are investigating a string of break-ins at a local storage facility in which suspects are breaking the lock off rented units and taking items from inside.
So far this year officers have responded to five break-ins at Public Storage in the 47000 block of Warm Springs Boulevard, police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said Tuesday.
Officers learned of the most recent burglary at about 6 p.m. Saturday after a man dialed 911 and told police someone broke into his locked storage unit and stole a large screen TV, Bosques said.
It was the second time in about a week that someone broke into that same unit, Bosques said. The first break-in was reported Sept. 2.
During that heist, Bosques said, someone took two boxes of amplifiers.
The other break-ins were reported at nearby units on Jan. 23, April 30 and Aug. 24.
Items taken during those incidents included personal items and coins, Bosques said.
