The funeral for slain California Highway Patrol officer Kenyon Youngstrom will include a motorcade procession, and the CHP is emphasizing that the public is welcome.

Youngstrom was shot in the head Sept. 4 during a traffic stop near the Livorna Road exit on Interstate 680 in Alamo and died the next day. His organs were donated and used to save three men and a woman.

The CHP announced late Wednesday that the motorcade procession will begin at approximately 7:30 a.m. and travel from the Morrison Funeral Chapel at 975 Vintage Ave. in St. Helena south on Highway 29 to eastbound Highway 12 to eastbound I-80 before exiting at Leisure Town Road in Vacaville and concluding its procession at The Mission Church, 6391 Leisure Town Road.

The funeral service is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will feature several speakers, including Steve Fernandez, Youngstrom's pastor. The ceremony is expected to last until 11:30 a.m.
