ANAHEIM -- A's left fielder Yoenis Cespedes left Thursday's game in the fifth inning after spraining his right wrist on a slide into second base.
Cespedes served as designated hitter each of the past two games, homering in each one, as A's manager Bob Melvin said he'd been looking for spots to give Cespedes some rest.
Cespedes has missed 31 games due to injury this season — he spent a 22-game stint on the disabled list for a strained muscle in his left hand in May and missed nine games in June with a strained left hamstring.
Brandon Moss shifted from first base to left field and Chris Carter entered at first against the Los Angeles Angels.
