The great Bob Mould plans to revisit his old band's songbook this weekend at the Fillmore.
No, not that old band. I'm not talking about Husker Du, although it would be great to hear Bob perform lengthy passages from, in particular, 1983's "Everything Falls Apart" and 1984's "Zen Arcade."
I'm talking about his other historically significant group -- Sugar -- which Mould led from 1992 to 1995. Sugar will be remembered, and should be remembered, for crafting one excellent album, 1992's "Copper Blue."
The 51-year-old singer-songwriter-guitarist will revisit his Sugar days on Friday by performing "Copper Blue" in its entirety at the Fillmore, 1805 Geary Blvd., S.F. He's also scheduled to play his new solo album, "Silver Age," which hit stores earlier this month.
And -- who knows? -- he might just throw in a Husker Du or two. Keep your fingers crossed.
Showtime is 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 (www.livenation.com).
