MOSCOW, Idaho -- A Walnut Creek man attending school at the University of Idaho was badly injured in a fall from a fraternity-house roof Wednesday, police said.
Kurt Wrobel, 21, a sophomore majoring in general studies, fell two stories onto concrete off the roof of the Alpha Tau Omega house around 12:30 a.m., Moscow Police Chief David Duke said. The former De La Salle High School student was transported to a Moscow hospital before later being airlifted Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash., Duke said.
He is listed in serious but stable condition with facial injuries, broken bones and other internal injuries, Duke said.
Witnesses told police Wrobel climbed out of one window and tried to climb through another one while on the roof, Duke said. The entry door to the room with the window was locked, Duke said.
Frost was on the roof at the time of the accident, Duke said, and may have played a role. Alcohol may also have played a role, he said.
The fraternity is near the campus that houses 11,000 students in a college town of 24,000 people.
