PLEASANT HILL -- Two men were arrested Thursday night after leading police on a high-speed chase from Vallejo to Pleasant Hill that wove on and off the freeway and ended when the suspects turned down a dead-end street.
The incident started about 7:45 p.m. when Vallejo police tried to stop a car with two men inside at Lincoln Road East and Magazine Street, said Vallejo police Sgt. Kelly Schroeder. The driver sped off, he said, and pulled onto Interstate 780. Officers saw the men dumping items -- drugs that were later recovered by police -- out the windows as the car continued onto Interstate 680.
The chase reportedly reached speeds as high as 100 mph. The car briefly exited the freeway at Willow Pass Road in Concord before getting back onto I-680 and exiting again at Monument Boulevard. Once on Monument, the driver turned onto Lisa Lane, a dead-end road near Fair Oaks Elementary School, where the chase ended about 8:20 p.m.
The men were arrested without incident and were being held on charges of evading police, Schroeder said. Their names, ages and cities of residence weren't immediately available.
