ALAMO-- Two lanes of northbound Interstate 680 were closed this morning at Livorna Road while crews extracted a vehicle sent flying into a ditch during a hit-and-run, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.
About 10:05 p.m., officers responded to reports that a white box-truck had sideswiped an Infiniti L30 sedan, sending it veering into a tree on the shoulder of the road then into a ditch below, a dispatcher said.
The CHP reported major injuries in the crash, though it was not known how many people were in the vehicle. Neither the box truck nor its driver have been found.
All lanes were reopened about 11:30 a.m. while tow trucks extracted the car from the ditch, though traffic remains slow, the dispatcher said. Traffic is currently backed up past El Pintado Road in Danville.
