DUBLIN -- A chain-reaction car wreck on southbound Interstate 680 slowed the evening commute and sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries, the CHP said.
The wreck involved five vehicles and blocked the two left lanes on I-680 at the Bollinger Canyon Road exit for more than an hour, Officer Pete Van Eckhardt said.
The CHP originally reported that six vehicles were involved but amended its report after an investigation.
The two injured people were taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Pleasanton. One had a bruised hip and the other complained of neck pain, Van Eckhardt said.
The wreck happened about 5:32 p.m. when a Lexus collided with an unknown vehicle at the exit. Four vehicles tried to avoid that wreck -- two sedans and two SUVs -- and three of them crashed, with two ending up in the carpool lane, Van Eckhardt said.
The two blocked lanes were open by 6:30 p.m.
