HERCULES -- Fire investigators say arson is a possibility in a blaze that burned grass and some eucalyptus trees behind the Hercules Teen Center on Friday.

Four engines and two battalion chiefs responded to the 2:53 p.m. fire, which was declared under control at 4:01 p.m., according to Bryan Craig, battalion chief with the Hercules-Rodeo Fire District.

Nobody was injured, and none of the adjacent homes in the area were damaged.

The first firefighters on the scene saw burning brush and trees next to the walking trail near the center at 2007 Refugio Valley Road. After the fire was extinguished, a barbecue lighter was found at the scene. Investigators took the lighter into evidence.
