The Hayward High football team was spinning its wheels in the first half. But the second half was a completely different story for the Farmers.
Marjani Ellison threw a pair second half touchdown passes, one in each quarter, as Hayward recorded a 13-7 home win over College Park on Friday in a nonleague game.
"We had some nice drives in the first half that we didn't finish," Hayward coach Justin Redemer said. "The guys came out in the second half and decided they were going to finish and I'm proud of how they played."
Ellison threw for 207 yards, including the game-winning 16-yard touchdown pass to Alex Jones early in the fourth quarter on a 4th-and-seven play.
Ellison' first touchdown pass, a 23-yarder to Sheldon Bowman, gave the Farmers (2-2) momentum.
College Park (2-3) was in control early, going on a nine-play, 90-yard drive in the first quarter that was capped off by a Nick Le Sage 1-yard plunge. The Falcons rushed for 164 yards in the first half but couldn't build on the early lead.
