Eloy Portela kicked a 28-yard field goal for the Hartnell College football team and host Contra Costa could not respond on its overtime possession as the Panthers earned a 22-19 nonconference win Saturday.
Contra Costa (2-2) trailed 19-11 late in the fourth quarter, but Rashad Hall capped a 15-play, 66-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run to cut Hartnell's lead to two points. Quarterback Malik Watson then found receiver Jamachal Torrez open for the two-point conversion, sending the game into overtime.
In the extra session, the Comets did not get a first down on their possession.
Hall led the Comets with 103 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries.
Contra Costa (2-2) had a tough time containing Panthers running back Deandre Mann, who had 249 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
Monterey Peninsula 33, Los Medanos 26: The host Lobos (1-2) scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to help pull out a nonconference win over the Mustangs (2-2).
Los Medanos led 14-13 at halftime and 20-19 at the end of the third quarter, but Monterey Peninsula went ahead 27-20 early in the fourth. The Mustangs scored a touchdown with eight minutes to go but was stopped on the two-point conversion try. Thr Lobos added their final touchdown with just five minutes left.
Diablo Valley 44, Chabot 20: Quinn Kaehler completed 34 of his 61 passes for 490 yards and five touchdowns as the
Diante Jackson had 11 receptions for 229 yards and three touchdowns for Diablo Valley. Teammate Andre Lewis added seven catches for 125 yards.
The Vikings scored 21 points in the second quarter to take a 24-11 lead into halftime. Kaehler threw three touchdown passes in that quarter. After three quarters, Diablo Valley led 31-14.
Chabot (0-4) was led by quarterback Brandyn Eckhart. He rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown, and threw for 90 yards and a touchdown.
