OAKLAND -- A pregnant woman was hit by a shard of glass from a shattered window when bullets hit the car she was sitting in Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Paramedics examined her and police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said the woman, who is six of seven months pregnant, declined to be transported to the hospital.

Preliminary reports that the woman was hit in the abdomen by a stray bullet were false. Police did not say where on her body she was hit by the glass.

The name and exact age of the woman were not released. The shooting happened at 3:22 p.m. in the 5800 block of E. 16th Street, police said.

Bullets hit another car and three homes, Watson said.

No one has been arrested and

it was not immediately known who -- if anyone -- was the target in the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.

Police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information in the shooting. Anyone with information should call police at 510-238-3821.
